Custom Acrylic FAQ Answers
Everything You Need to Know Before Ordering
Wetop Acrylic is a custom acrylic products manufacturer in Shenzhen, China, with 18+ years of experience serving B2B clients in 25+ countries. Below are the questions buyers ask us most — pricing and MOQ, samples, production and QC, shipping and payment, design files and IP, and what we don't make.
Pricing & MOQ
What is the minimum order quantity — per design or per order?
Our minimum order is 50 pieces per design, for both new and repeat orders. The 50 applies per design, not per order — three designs means 50 pieces of each, and different product types can combine into one shipment to save freight. There's no maximum: we run 50 pieces and 50,000+ on the same lines with the same 100% inspection.
How long does a quote take, and what does it include?
Quotes come back within 24 hours when the inquiry includes specs (drawings or reference photos, target quantity, finish, branding), and within 48 hours for complex multi-part assemblies. Every quote is itemized line by line: unit price at each quantity tier, printing and branding, packaging level, sample fee, and freight under your chosen term (FOB, CIF, or DDP).
What does a custom acrylic order typically cost per unit?
Indicative FOB Shenzhen guide: small items land at $3–20 per unit; mid-complexity display stands run $10–40; large floor-standing or LED-integrated units $40–150+; fully custom mahjong sets $47–58 per set. The exact number moves with size, material, and packaging level.
Can you quote several quantity tiers at once?
Yes — name the tiers you're weighing (say 100 / 250 / 500) and the quote prices each one, so you can see exactly where unit cost steps down. Unit price falls with quantity because setup labor amortizes over more pieces.
What is the MOQ and price for custom mahjong sets?
Fully custom mahjong sets start at 50 sets. Typical FOB Shenzhen pricing: $58 at 50 sets, $56 at 100, $50 at 200, $49 at 250, and $47 at 500 — exact quote provided per spec.
Do you work with startups and small businesses?
Yes. Our 50-piece MOQ is designed to be startup-friendly. Many of our long-term clients started with a single test order of 50–100 pieces and scaled from there with the same manufacturing standards.
Samples
Do I pay for samples? Is the fee credited back?
Standard samples cost $30–$100, and the full fee is credited to your first bulk-order invoice. Complex multi-part samples run around $250 and are not credited due to one-off setup labor.
How long does a sample take to make and ship?
Standard samples ship in 3–5 days from drawing approval; engraved tile samples run 5–7 days. International transit via DHL or FedEx adds another 3–5 days.
How many sample revisions can I request?
As many as needed to land the right design. Most projects close on the first or second sample. Minor adjustments like logo placement or color tweaks are usually free.
Can I approve from a photo or video instead of waiting?
Yes. We send high-resolution photos and videos of the finished sample on the QC bench within 24 hours. Many buyers approve via media to skip the international shipping wait.
Can I reorder without a new sample?
Yes. We archive production drawings and approved sample records for every order, so reorders go straight to production from original files — usually 20-30% faster.
Production & QC
How long does bulk production take?
Bulk production takes 15–20 days after sample approval. Large orders (5,000+ pcs) or complex assemblies may extend this, which is always stated in the quote upfront.
What manufacturing tolerances can you hold?
Standard working tolerance is ±0.2 mm, with ±0.1 mm achievable on fit-critical 2D profiles. We can tune clearances at the sample stage if parts must slip-fit together.
What types of acrylic material does Wetop use?
We use cast acrylic (PMMA) in all standard types: clear, colored, frosted, mirrored, glitter, and UV-filtering. Thickness ranges from 1mm to 50mm, all meeting SGS and ROHS standards.
What is the difference between cast and extruded acrylic?
Cast acrylic is poured into molds — it's harder, optically clearer, and better for laser cutting. Extruded is more uniform in thickness but less suitable for precision cutting. Wetop uses only cast acrylic for cleaner cuts and better clarity.
Is your acrylic food-safe?
Yes — for direct food contact, we use FDA-compliant food-grade PMMA and ship material certification with the order. Just flag 'food-grade' on your inquiry.
How is quality checked? Can I book my own inspector?
Every order gets 100% piece-by-piece inspection in our ISO 9001 factory. Third-party inspection is welcome: we schedule visits once the order is packed and before balance payment.
Can you provide formal quality documentation?
Yes — Material Test Reports (MTRs), SGS and ROHS certificates, and the 100% inspection log ship with every order on request at no extra charge.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Photograph the damage and email us within 7 days. We replace defective units at no charge or refund the affected portion. Our internal defect rate is ≤ 0.5%.
Can I visit or audit the factory?
Yes — factory visits and audits are welcome. Our facility is in Shenzhen, China. Email us to schedule a date, and we'll confirm within 24 hours.
Shipping & Payment
What's the difference between FOB and DDP?
FOB means we cover costs until loading at the port; freight and duties are yours. DDP means we handle door-to-door delivery including all duties, providing a total landed cost.
What shipping options are available?
We ship via sea freight (20–30 days), air freight (5–7 days), or express courier like DHL/FedEx (3–5 days). Freight is itemized in your quote for comparison.
Can you do a partial shipment?
Yes. We can split shipments — air freight for urgent needs and sea freight for the balance — to help you get product on shelves faster.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept T/T (bank transfer), PayPal, and Western Union. Terms are usually 30% deposit upfront and 70% balance before shipment.
Design & IP
Do I need CAD files to order?
No. Send reference photos or sketches with dimensions. Our team produces the production drawings for your approval before any acrylic is cut.
What artwork file formats do you need?
Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) are ideal. We can convert raster images (JPEG/PNG) to vector format during the standard quote process at no extra charge.
Can you match a Pantone or brand HEX color?
Yes. Custom Pantone matching adds a one-time fee per color. You approve a physical swatch before production to ensure a perfect match.
Will you sign an NDA? Who owns my artwork?
Yes — an NDA is standard. Your designs and trademarks remain your property; we use them only to manufacture your order and never resell them.
Do you offer custom retail packaging?
Yes. Retail-ready packaging (printed boxes, foam inserts) can be added and is confirmed at the sample stage to match bulk production.
Can you add LED lighting to displays?
Yes. We integrate LED strip lights, backlit panels, and edge-lit systems into displays. Products ship wired and ready to plug in.
What We Don't Make
Is there anything Wetop doesn't manufacture?
We don't do molding, resin casting, deal toys, or soft goods. We focus exclusively on sheet-based fabrication (cutting, bonding, polishing).
Do you make deal toys or awards?
No — these require resin casting around objects. We build solid photo blocks and subsurface laser-engraved blocks instead.
Can acrylic products be autoclaved?
No — PMMA deforms well below autoclave temperatures. For such needs, polycarbonate or polypropylene are the correct materials.
